"Any sufficiently advanced technology
is indistinguishable from magic"

Profiles of the Future

General Aviation pilots can fly technologically advanced aircraft. More to the point, you can fly one.  Rent a 2008 Diamond Star DA40 XLS at Cargill Aeronautical Academy (CAA), located at at Capital City Airport (KCXY).

The DA40 XLS is a four place, single engine, fixed gear composite aircraft with exceptional performance.  Key characteristics are:

  -  150 knots at 10.5 gph (a real treat with rising fuel prices)
  -  140 knots at 9.5 gph
  -  50 gal tanks (over 4 hours range with reserves)
  -  865 lbs useful load

The performance is terrific, but the icing on the cake is the Garmin G1000 glass panel with Garmin's Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT).  I've flown with SVT.  It makes instrument approaches as simple as you can imagine, and then some.

Speed, range, simplicity -- magic!  Put yourself in this picture.
